Who, what, where, when and how is what Fiji needs to work on when promoting itself globally in the tourism market.
These are the sentiments of Attorney General and Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum at the AEON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2009 held at the Intercontinental Resort in Natadola last night.
The awards were attended by more than 300 hotel owners and employees of the tourism industry.
Sayed Khaiyum said we must improve our tourism services and marketing so we won't get left behind.
Sayed Khaiyum said on a recent trip to India, he met members of the India tourism industry, retailers and stakeholders adding if they come to Fiji they want excellent service and nothing else.
Meanwhile, the Awards for Accommodation Budget went to Uprising Beach Resort, Accommodation Delux 5 star to Outrigger Lagoon, Accommodation Quality to Naviti, Accommodation Unique - Namale Resort in Savusavu, General Tourism Services including shopping and restaurant to Jacks of Fiji and Transport and Tour to Rosie.
The Frontliner of the Year went to Executive Chef of Outrigger Sailesh Naidu while the Life Time Achiever Award went to John Campbell CEO Air Pacific, Jamal Sahan Manager Warwick Fiji, David Voss of Destination Suva.
