The leader of the Social Democratic and Liberal Party, Ro Teimumu Kepa has denied allegations leveled against SODELPA that it has been distributing flyers claiming that the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama’s salary is $1.7 million.

Ro Teimumu said as far as she is concerned, there is no one within SODELPA who is behind the distribution of any such flyer.

However the SODELPA leader said it is only right that the Prime Minister disclose his salary to the people of the country.

Bainimarama said in a statement earlier this week that one of the political parties was distributing a flyer saying that he is earning a salary of $1.7 million.

The Prime Minister said the party has done so without any fact, or proof or evidence.

Bainimarama stresses that he does not earn $1.7 million.

He said people will find out what his salary is after the registration of the proposed FijiFirst.

This is when he will provide the declaration of his assets and liabilities to the Elections Office.

When the FijiFirst is registered, the party has 30 days to submit to the Registrar a written declaration giving details of all assets and expenditure including, all contributions, donations or pledges of contributions or donations, whether in cash or in kind, made or to be made to the initial assets of the political party.

The party officials will also have to disclose personal incomes, assets, business connections, directorships, gifts, and liabilities.
