The public service radio broadcasters, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) has refused to divulge the total amount of funds it has sought from a financial institution and the total amount of funds it will spend on a multimillion dollar technical upgrade.
FBC Chairman Yaminiasi Gaunavou said the state owned radio station is not in a position to reveal publically who has funded the technical upgrade.
Gaunavou also confirmed that a New Zealand company, AVC will do all the works.
However, he said he cannot reveal the amount of funds that will be used in the works.
Gaunavou also confirmed that a feasibility study has already been done for the public service broadcasters to go into television.
He said the plan is still in the pipeline and refused to confirm on whether funds have been secured from a financial institution for the state broadcaster to open a state owned TV station.
Gaunavou had refused to comment on reports that the New Zealand contract alone is worth about $7 million.
He said the report was inaccurate as no one has spoken to him about the issue.
Questions have been sent to the Permanent Secretary for Public Enterprises Taina Tagicakibau who has referred all queries to Public Enterprise Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
The Minister is currently in Malaysia.
