Fiji Television Limited has refuted claims made by the National Federation Party that the company is now laying off workers at Fiji TV.
NFP Leader, Biman Prasad has raised the question on whether the board of Fiji TV has decided to reduce the number of staff to less than 50.
Prasad is also asking how many staff will be redeployed to other Fijian Holdings Limited companies.
Nouzab Fareed, CEO of Fijian Holdings Limited which is the majority shareholder of Fiji TV Limited, said only Sky Pacific workers will be going to Digicel Fiji after the sale of the Pay TV division is completed.
Fareed said they have had about two staff dismissals for disciplinary issues.
He also said they have a normal policy where staff can be transferred to other FHL companies.
Fareed said this will be based on their consent and Fiji TV staff have been told about this.
Meanwhile Fareed said he cannot make any comments on whether the Fiji One channel will be shut down from the Sky Pacific channels after the sale is complete.
Under the law, local content is not allowed on the Pay TV services provided by foreign owned companies.
We have asked Digicel Fiji on whether Fiji One will be shut down soon from the Sky Pacific channels.
They are yet to respond.
