“We are here for a reason and will do whatever it takes for the people back home.”

These are the words of Vodafone Fiji Bati flyer Akuila Uate as they look forward to the match against Australia this Sunday.

Speaking to AAP sports Uate said his sole focus is with the Bati and he has no hard feelings over his representative snubbing for Australia and NSW.

But Uate would still like to prove a point at the Rugby League World Cup.

The Newcastle Knights wing has already made a spectacular start to the tournament, scoring a hat-trick in Fiji's opening win over Ireland on Tuesday.

He hopes to keep that form going when he faces Australia, the nation he has represented five times.

The 26 year old has also played five State of Origin games for NSW but was overlooked for both the Blues and Kangaroos in 2013.

The Vodafone Fiji Bati will play the Australian Kangaroos at 9am Sunday.

Meanwhile New Zealand will play France at 8am tomorrow.
