Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said he knows that a return to parliamentary democracy is essential to restore investor confidence, however, he stressed that things cannot be rushed to please the international community.
While opening the Economic Summit with the theme “Rebuilding Confidence and Growing the Economy” today, Commodore Bainimarama said the interim government will not bend to the pressure from the international community to have elections without ensuring sustainable democracy.
Bainimarama said he wants a Fiji which has equal opportunities for all so that the country moves forward as a united nation.
The Interim PM stressed that he wants to end Fiji's coup cycle and everyone needs to play their part.
The two day Economic Summit which is currently underway at the Tradewinds Convention Centre, is being attended by about 200 people including businesspeople, interim ministers and permanent secretaries.
