There will be a clear indication on Friday on whether the interim government has any plans to have the general elections next year.
Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said if a significant allocation is not provided to the Elections Office then it will be a known fact that we will not return to democracy in the next 12 to 14 months.
The elections office had been allocated 20 to 25 million dollars in the past during the election year.
Meanwhile, Qarase expects no major surprises in the 2009 National Budget.
Commodore Bainimarama will deliver the 2009 National Budget address at 11am Friday.
