The Interim Prime Minister made a scathing attack on Fiji's big brothers in the Pacific region while addressing the Melanesian Spear Head Group in Vanuatu last night.

Without naming names, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said ongoing sanctions from our regional big brothers continue to have a punitive impact on our capacity and responsiveness.

He went on to say that some of Fiji's neighbors would rather see Fiji descend into civil strife and hopelessness from their actions and sanctions.

In imposing measures upon Fiji, Bainimarama said current sanctions such as the travel ban, targets anyone appointed by the interim government, which is hypocrisy at its worst on the part of those neighbor States, as they undermine efforts to promote and practice good governance.

Bainimarama said as Australia and New Zealand benefit from the brain drain in Fiji, it is from them that understanding and support is sought.

He adds Fiji desperately needs help, not the closing of doors.
