The Quarantine Department and other Border Control Agencies have identified ways to combat the import of illegal items into the country.
Director Hiangi Foreate said they had discussed this issue in a forum with other agencies on how to strengthen boarder security.
He added that they are working with police to prosecute those retailers who have been found selling these illegally imported items.
However, he cannot confirm by when these people will be brought to justice.
