Water upgrades force planned shutdown
Areas affected include all areas on the Nausori end of the Rewa Bridge including all major feeder roads from Baulevu to the Rewa Delta.
All villages and settlements in Bau, Nakelo and Tikina of Tokatoka, Vuci road to Ratu Kadavulevu and Naitalasese will be affected.
People in all the village settlements in the Rewa province will also have no water supply.
Looking at the areas between Suva/Nausori corridor, areas from Rewa Bridge to Brown Street and Suva Point will be affected.
This also includes Tamavua, Tacirua, Vatuwaqa and USP.
Authority’s General Manager Operations Taito Delana said the planned shutdown is necessary for increasing the capacity of treated water at the Waila Treatment Plant for distribution.
Other works includes the re-cabling of five river pumps, upgrading of the raw water pump and the upgrading works at the Wainibuka Reservoir.
The upgrading works will begin at 7am on Saturday and works are scheduled for up-to 10 hours.
Once the works are completed a further 24 hours will be required to fill up the reservoirs.
Delana said water trucks will be carting water to the affected areas and they will be placing water tanks at strategic locations.
