Water supply upgrade for Delainavesi and Lami
Water Authority of Fiji Corporate Communications Officer, Joe Cava said staff today dug a one meter deep trench, from the Delanavesi Road junction across the Queens Rd, to allow for the connection of a new bypass polyethene pipeline from the Queens Rd trunk line to upper Delanavesi.
Cava said beginning at 8am the Projects staff supported by the Operations team, worked throughout the day and are expected to continue into the night to complete the connection.
He added this is the culmination of almost two months of digging and laying of 2 kilometres polyethylene pipes, and when connected water pressure and supply are expected to improve significantly to the high areas of Delainavesi and Lami which have previously been experiencing water cuts and low pressure.
Since January this year, water tanks have been strategically placed in the high areas of Delainavesi and Lami to cater for the residents' needs.
These tanks were replenished three times daily while other areas without water tanks were serviced by water trucks.
The Delainavesi Project is part of Water Authority's Emergency Works Programme to improve service delivery.
