Water supply to ten villages in Rewa will be improved when two new water pipes to the area are connected today.

The Water Authority of Fiji in a statement said the water pipes have been laid across the Rewa River from Lokia to Naililili and will be connected to the existing pipelines.

As a result of this the Authority said water will be temporarily shut off between 10am and 4pm to allow their engineers to make the connection.

Areas affected by the planned shutdown are Lomanikoro, Nadoi, Nabua, Nasigatoka, Drekena, Naililili, Vutia, Vunuku, Tavuya and Nukui.

People living in these areas are advised to store enough water for the duration of the planned shutdown.

The Water Authority said the project cost $132,000, and is part if their Emergency Works Programme to improve water supply in the Rewa Delta.
