The three water sources in Ovalau have run dry which is having a severe impact on the communities in the Old Capital and residents are now struggling to get by on a daily basis.
This has also affected the major life line on Levuka as the operations of the Pacific Fishing Company have been cut back.
PAFCO Secretary Etueni Caucau said they are not able to run two shifts due to the low water levels.
Resident of Naikorokoro village Lepani Lewalewa who also works at PAFCO said their hours have been cut back due to the water problems which mean less money for their family.
He is also concerned that the education of the children on Ovalau will be affected as schools open on Tuesday.
Two Home Stay operators on Ovalau Fijivillage news spoke to say their business is also struggling due to the water problems.
However, speaking to Fijivillage news Director Water Sewerage Sereicokocoko Yanuyanurua said the situation is out of their hands and all they can do is pray for more rain.
