Heavy rain in the western division has hampered the water restoration to areas in Ba.

Following the floods last month, PWD has revealed areas in Balevutu and Namoto experienced a series of landslides which has seen the timeline for water restoration delayed by two weeks.

Spokeswoman Sainiana Waqainabete said rain experienced in the afternoons has loosened the soil and is putting strain on their limited workforce.

Meanwhile, Waqainabete said the extent of the flood damage has seen the need for some major pipes to be restored while mechanical parts for their reservoir in Ba need to be replaced.

Elevated places in Ba such as the Koronubu and Namoto areas are currently facing water cuts and only two trucks are on standby to supply water to these areas.
