Its reminiscing of sights after a major flood rips through the country - businesses cleaning water from their shops - but this is the same scene in downtown Suva along Craig street next to Nabokalou creek this morning.

Heavy rain overnight caused the Nabukalou creek to over flow and water flooded the shops and restaurants along Greig Street.

Legend FM news went to inspect the area which often gets flooded during spring tides.

The shop owners have also had to go to the extent to put barriers on their back doors as water does not only pour in from the Nabukalou creek side but also from the drainage system from the back of the building.

Business owners who did not wish to give an interview say they are now used to the situation and are tied of raising their concerns with the Suva city council.

They say it costs them money to clean up and lose business as they are unable to open for the day.

SCC Special Administrator Chandu Umaria said the situation is out of their hands as Craig street is below sea level and he sympathizes with the shop owners.

But Umaria also assured that the dredging works planned for Nabukalou creek should ease the problem in the future but it won't go away.
