People of lowlying areas in Sasa and Natunuku villages now have a reason to smile as they will no longer drink contaminated water during times of natural disasters.

The Fiji Water Foundation has installed water filters in these two villages as well as educating the communities on sanitation and maintenance.

These filters come with a one million gallon guarantee.

A nurse in Sasa Village said the filters will help the villagers immensely.

She said they often have water cuts and have to get water from a family down the road while during the floods they have to depend on the river.

The water filter will prevent many water borne diseases.

The Fiji Water Foundation has installed over 1000 household filters in communities around Nadi and Ba and the team plans to install each home with a filter in the next 10 years.
