Water disruptions caused by upgrade works to old pipelines
Fijivillage raised questions with the Water Authority of Fiji who say that upgrading works are continuing all around the country which included laying mains that will improve supply to Lami and Delainavesi and improvement to the supply line to the Rewa Delta and Bau.
These ongoing upgrading works are expected to resolve water and be completed this year.
Water Authority also said that the villages in Rewa province and the Tikina of Nakelo currently experience intermittent supply and low pressure because the main trunk lines are not large enough to be able to fully supply to these areas.
The Authority said that these lines have not been enlarged over the years, the number of households that are connected to them increase every year so the demand has exceeded supply and this puts pressure on the supply system.
The new pipelines, which are bigger in size, will increase pressure and can carry large volumes of water to these villages as well as for the Lami and Delainavesi areas.
