Residents of Vitogo Lautoka have raised concerns that they are facing major difficulties as they are not receiving normal water supply for the last five years.

A resident, Naleen Maan told Fijivillage that a new reservoir was built in a hilly place of Buabua in Lautoka in 2004 however water authorities have not connected the pipes to their area.

He said residents are willing to bear all the costs for the piping and only want the water department to do the connection however they are not receiving any favorable response from them.

According to Maan, they have to fetch water from nearby wells and areas 3 kilometers away everyday for bathing and washing.

The Water Department in the West could not be reached for comments.
