Water cuts are becoming more frequent either because of burst pipes or low levels in the reservoir.

For a family in Veisari, water cuts over the long weekend saw them spending their time in front of the TV and housewife, Ana Qio said that the water cuts forced them to cancel all their plans adding there is no water to drink, bath, visit the toilet and wash dishes and clothes.

Water Supply Department Spokesperson Maika Nagalu has asked people to bear with them as the water supply framework in the country is more than 30 years old and can give way at any time.

Nagalu added that once they are alerted they will be sending water trucks out to the affected areas and their engineers will be on standby as well.

Over the long weekend, water pipes in Nadi and Makoi burst leaving thousands without water supply.
