To try and solve the constant water cuts experienced in parts of the country, the Water Authority has put together an Emergency Works Programme to upgrade the capacity pipeline.
Authority Chairman, John Prasad said the budgeted money allocation for the Works Programme is $68 million and works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Prasad highlighted that one of the main areas which is mostly affected and needs a lot of proper engineering work is the Lami Delainavesi areas.
The Programme will see, changes in the Lami Delainavesi pipeline and a 600mm pipe to be constructed at the Kalekana Reservoir, increasing the pipeline at the Raralevu Main and the Wainibokasi Reinforcement Main, the Tamavua Clear Water Well to be constructed 7 meters underground and also the Wainibuku Reservoir Reconfiguration.
In addition, changes in the form of the Tovata Reservoir Liner Repair and changes to the Nagatugatu High Reservoir Pipe work at Coloisuva, a new reservoir and water pump to be constructed at Valele, Ba, a new pipeline to be laid from Waimalika-Sabeto and also a new pipeline from Navau to Benau Water Treatment Plant in Labasa.
