Water Problems Plague North Residents
Resident Ambika Prasad said they have not been getting water for the past year and any further delays in addressing the problem will see the residents taking their grievances to the minister concerned.
When contacted, the Divisional Water Engineer referred all the questions to the Water Supply PRO Maika Naqalu. Naqalu confirmed they have received the letter from Prasad, however, he said the department does not agree that the residents have not been getting water for the past year.
He said people are not getting water during peak hours in the morning and afternoon in the higher areas due to a burst in the main pipe.
He said the pipe was ordered from Suva on Friday and work on the burst main will begin this week and people will start getting normal water supply from this week.
Meanwhile, the two raw water intakes in Nakama and Sarava, Labasa, that were facing problems last week, have started to produce normal water supply.
