Consumers in the eastern and western divisions are being warned to brace for more water problems in the months ahead as water levels in reservoirs are reported to be at below critical levels.

Divisional Water Engineer Eastern Samuela Tubui told Village News that the Ministry of Works is drawing up contingency plans to cart water from catchments or reservoirs which currently have sufficient supply to those which are low due to insufficient rain over the last month.

He confirms that areas in Wailoku, Samabula, Delainavesi, Lami and Veisari are currently experiencing water cuts due to low water levels at the Savura Reservoir.

And the situation is expected to get worse. Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said water levels in reservoirs and water catchments will not to improve over the next few months as only minimal rainfall is expected.
