The Water Department is now working on a major plan to counter the El Nino effect which may cause below average rainfall in two months resulting in low water levels at the reservoirs.
Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete said the ministry is preparing for the worst scenario.
Meanwhile, Director Rajendra Prasad said a weak to moderate El Nino effect is expected to develop in August this year and its immediate effects will be low to below average rainfall faced in certain parts of the country.
