Water Dept Happy With Rainy Weather
Spokeswoman for the Department, Sainiana Waqainabete said that after closely monitoring the situation over the past week, they have noted water levels at the various reservoirs in Levuka, the Savura dam in Suva have improved and they have lifted the critical level warning placed on them.
On questions on whether the water rationing for residents in Levuka as well as for those in the Central Division in Lami, Delainavesi, and in Samabula will continue, Waqainabete said they will have to monitor water levels for the next few days before a decision is made.
Meanwhile, Divisional Water Engineer Central Eastern, Serericokocoko Yanuyanurua confirms water level at the Savura Dam has indeed improved with water overflowing into their two other head works. It was only last week that the main river source from Waimanu River had dried up.
The Weather Office has also revealed that this weather pattern is expected to continue into next week as well.
