Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry said the bottling companies will know tomorrow if the tax that was imposed on bottled water will be removed or not.
Chuadhry in a press conference revealed that it was a collective decision by Cabinet to impose the tax in first place and therefore the decision has to come from the Cabinet.
Chaudhry also revealed the bottled water companies also haven’t proved that tax imposed on the sale and export of bottled water will drastically affect them.
Meanwhile, Chaudhry has today hinted that his job in taking the national economy in the right direction is almost complete and he may soon consider resigning to prepare for the next elections.
In an exclusive interview with Fijivillage, Chaudhry said a lot has been done and he knows Commodore Bainimarama's directive to the cabinet ministers that they have to resign if they are planning to contest the next elections.
However, Chaudhry has stressed that he was never asked to resign by Commodore Bainimarama.
