The Water Authority is now taking drastic measures to collect the water rates owed to them.

Manager Corporate Communications, Mitchell Tevita Singh said they are now disconnecting an average of five hundred water metres daily due to non-payment of water bills.

She said they are owed close to $34 million in overdue rates and disconnection has started so that people are forced to pay their dues.

The Water Authority has called on people to pay up the arrears as they also have to complete some major projects.
