Water Authority starts rehab work
These works are funded through the Asian Development Bank loan and are expected to be completed by January 2011.
In a statement, works are expected to cause some disruptions in supply to the high areas of Suva and Nausori.
Members of the public will be advised in advance of any major disruption to supply.
The Water Authority advises the public to use water wisely and minimize wastage.
Also, the Water Authority Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said they will be putting a 600mm pipe in June from Tamavua to Kalekana to ease the water problems mainly in Delainavesi, as this place more often than not suffers from constant water cuts.
In the Western Division, about twenty families in Rarawai, Ba have been without water for the past two weeks.
Resident, Brij Deo said they are really finding it hard as they have to travel about 5 kilometers to get water.
He also said that they do not have any other source of water and getting water from somewhere else is expensive.
Meanwhile, a frustrated housewife Amelia Seru from Cunningham has called on the Water Authority of Fiji to be more vigilant and send water trucks to the area when there are water cuts.
