Defending Fiji Bitter Marist 7s champion Wardens will play in this year’s competition without the services of some key players who helped the side beat Army Green in last year’s final.

Current coach Sailosi Naiteqe Junior will rely on the services of players who played in the Nawaka 7s last weekend as they will miss the likes of Apisai Nayabo, Ilai Tinai and Setefano Cakau who were part of the winning team last season.

The trio with last year’s coach Joe Savou are in the Fiji Barbarians team which is one of the favourites to win the Marist 7s this year.

Other top teams in the running for the $25,000 prize-money are Samoa Barbarians, Samurai Baracuda, Army, Police, Red Rock and Ratu Filise.

The Marist 7s kicks off at 9am with Fiji Babas playing Nabukavesi.
