Former Fiji 7s coach and current Wardens coach Josateki Savou showed a sigh of relief after his side beat the Waisale Serevi coached Papua New Guinea team in their first pool game by 22-7.
Savou said the boys played to their game plan that contributed a lot to the win.
Wardens scored four tries, two coming from Mosese Vatunitu in the first half of the game to Papua New Guinea's lone try.
PNG came out firing in the second half with a quick try under the post to register their first points.
Coach Waisale Serevi said that the boys did a lot of mistakes and did not follow the game plan.
In other games played so far, Apenisa Dralia and Samu Bola scored a try each to help their Police side beat Western Force 21-10
The next game currently underway is between Veiyasana Fijians followed by Tonga against Waimanu.
Then at 6:23pm Manawatu takes on Suva, at 6:45pm USA plays Army, at 7:07pm Samoa take on Ratu Filise and the last match of the day today will be between Fiji Barbarians and Northern Sharks.
