Wardens Green and Wardens Gold are certainly the teams to beat and are favourites to proceed to the cup quarter finals after winning their pool matches on the first day of the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s.
Wardens Green laced with the services of experienced players like Sakiusa Nadruku, Niumaia Bari, Risiate Tadulala and Waisake Rase-lala beat Ragataua 27-7 and later beat Naviti Resort 29-7.
Wardens Gold which features players like Kelepi Namoua, Niko Verekauta and former Redrock player Sireli Cagi defeated PNG 26-5 and wrapped up day one beating Outrigger on the Lagoon 31-7.
Other teams who are also unbeaten and are highly likely to make it to the quarter finals included Tokatoka Westfield Dragons, Fiji Chemicals Vuda, Police, Davui Suva Stallions, Tabadamu and defending champions Yamacia.
Meanwhile, the star studded Serevi Select Side remains in the hunt for a quarterfinal spot after beating Western Suburbs 26-nil in their last pool match last night.
Despite losing their opening match, the side was a big draw card of day one as it features star players like Jasa Veremalua, Apisalome Waqatabu, Ulaiyasi Lawavou, Nasoni Roko, Taniela Rawaqa, Lepani Nabuliwaqa and Neumi Nanuku.
The second day of the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s kicks off at 8.30am today with Mana Graphics Striders taking on Highlanders in the women’s category.
