Adi Mereseini Waqatoki of Suva Grammar School will be an athlete to watch in the Coca Cola Games this year.
Waqatoki set a new record of 4.84 metres in the Sub Junior Girls long jump event in the Coca Cola Suva Zone 2 last month.
The previous record of 4.37 metres was set by Raijieli.K of Suva Grammar School in 1995.
14-year-old Waqatoki said she is training hard this year to win a gold medal for her father who passed away when she was 2 years old.
Waqatoki has been winning gold in the long jump event in the FMF Chow Games since 2008.
The Coca Cola Games will be held from the 28th to the 30th of this month at the ANZ Stadium.
Over 100 schools will take part in this year’s games.
Natabua High School and Jasper Williams High School are the defending champions of the Boys and Girls division.
