The Flying Fijian Fifteens rugby coaching panel has named New Zealand based lock forward, Dominiko Waqaniburotu to captain the side in their opening Pacific Nation Cup game against Japan on Saturday.

Waqaniburotu is currently playing for the Waikato team in the New Zealand Provincial Rugby Cup and played a grand game for Fiji in his debut last week against the Wallabies.

Manager, Semi Rogoyawa said that the management has decided to name the 24 year old Waqaniburotu ahead of senior players like Graham Dewes, Alefoso Yalayalatabua and Fiji Warriors captain Dale Tonawai as the set their focus on the future leadership in the national team.

He added that they have decided to name Stormers winger, Sireli Naqelevuki as vice captain although he was earlier earmarked to come off the bench as a impact player.

Rogoyawa said that Naqelevuki is expect to arrive in the country tomorrow but they have given him the vice captain role to guide the young Fiji back line in their second game together as a team.

Also arriving in the country this morning is France based winger, Napolioni Nalaga who will join the team tomorrow.

According to Rogoyawa they are still waiting for the confirmation from Sisa Koyamaibole who earlier on had agreed to be part of the Fiji team to the PNC.
