Vodafone Flying Fijians Flanker Dominiko Waqaniburotu has been suspended for one week after admitting an act of foul play.

Following a review of broadcast footage, Waqaniburotu was cited by Independent Citing Commissioner Douglas Hunter for a ‘dangerous tip tackle’ in the 2015 Rugby World Cup opening match against England last Saturday.

Having conducted a detailed review of all the evidence available, including all broadcast angles and additional evidence from the player and submissions, the Judicial Officer considered that the incident was more appropriately characterised as a dangerous tackle and was in breach of World Rugby regulations.

This means that Waqaniburotu is suspended for Fiji’s match against Australia this Thursday but he is available for Fiji’s third Pool match against Wales next Thursday.

Waqaniburotu now has 48 hours to appeal the decision.

The full judgment will be available within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies will face the Vodafone Flying Fijians at 3.45am this Thursday at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
