The Wallabies will not know until few hours before kick off whether their star flanker, David Pocock, will play against Ireland at Eden Park tonight.

Pocock woke up with a sore back yesterday and opted against being involved in the final captain's run, raising doubts if he will be part of the Wallabies line up for their most important pool match before next month's finals.

While Pocock, who has had back problems in the past, was telling his teammates yesterday that he would play against Ireland, the Wallabies medical staff is certain to be cautious.

Pocock is the only specialist open side flanker selected in the 30 man World Cup squad, and if forced out, the most likely replacement is No.8 and blind side flanker Ben McCalman.

The Wallabies will take on Ireland tonight at 8.30pm.
