Wallabies coach John Connolly has stepped down as the coach of the Australian team after the 12 points to 10 lost in the World Cup 1/4 finals to England.
Connolly admitted England's pack was the difference between the two sides after his team's shock World Cup exit as they destroyed and controlled the Australian scrums.
Australia captain Stirling Mortlock said he would be partly blamed for the defeat, having had a disappointing day with his goal kicking.
He added that England were deserved winners and that if they repeated the performance they gave in Marseille they could be a match for anyone left in the tournament.
As well as Connolly, veteran half back pairing George Gregan and Stephen Larkham are also retiring from international rugby.
Meanwhile, All Blacks coach Graham Henry admitted that he was disappointed with the 20 points to 18 loss to France and believes that the best team in defence won the game.
France captain Raphael Ibanez said that the stuck to their game plan and that was to pressure the All Blacks throughout the match.
England will now take on France in the first semi-final next Sunday at 7am.
