Wallabies fly half Quade Cooper has admitted the Wallabies were in a state of shock after Ireland recorded a famous 15-6 victory over them.

Second ranked Australia will likely need to conquer defending champions South Africa in the quarter-finals and then tournament favorites New Zealand in the semifinals just to make the championship decider on October 23rd.

Presuming Australia account for USA this week in Wellington, then Russia in Nelson and negotiate a way past the Springboks, the Wallabies would almost certainly run into the All Blacks in the semi finals.

The loss against Ireland has also extended Australia’s misery at Eden Park, with the Wallabies last test triumph at the ground coming back in 1986.

Wallabies will play USA 8.30pm this Friday in their third match of the Rugby World cup match.
