Wallabies winger James O'Connor is in serious danger of missing the Bledisloe Cup match against the All Blacks next Saturday.

The Australia Rugby Union has launched an investigation into O'Connor's whereabouts after he was a no show at Sydney Airport for the World Cup squad announcement on Thursday.

He also could not be found in time for the official World Cup team photograph, which was taken at the hotel.

When Wallabies officials were asked on Thursday why O'Connor was not at the squad announcement, they said he could not attend because of personal issues.

O'Connor is certain to face a code of conduct hearing and is expected to be suspended.

Meanwhile, in the Tri-Nations series tomorrow, All Blacks will take on Springboks at 3am.
