Family members, local friends and supporters of the late 15 year old cancer sufferer Tae Kami, who inspired the people of Tonga with her fight against the disease, will take part in a walk to commemorate the first anniversary of her death.

Taholo Kami, Tae's farther said as well as marking the first anniversary of her death, they will raise awareness of the plight of cancer patients, and at the same time honour the memory of those who drowned in Tonga in the Princess Ashika disaster.

Kami said his daughter lifted the spirits of the Kingdom in her battle with cancer, and would have been very happy that an event to commemorate her passing would also serve as an occasion for spiritual support for Tonga at this time of grief.

He added Tongans everywhere and friends of the Kingdom throughout the world, are coming together in their sorrow and mourning over the tragedy.

Saturday's walk organized by the Tae Kami Foundation will start at Queen Elizabeth Drive and back, and will culminate in a gathering at Albert Park.
