Wales have created history and for the first time have been crowned champions in 78s rugby after winning the Melrose Cup this morning when they beat Argentina 19-12.

The Pumas beat Wales in their earlier Pool game but they took control of the field as Richie Pugh broke through for a try within just two minutes of game.

Wales had earlier overcome Samoa 19-12 in the semifinals while Argentina ended the hopes of Kenya 12-0.

Samoa had earlier knocked out England while Kenya defeated Fiji 26-7.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter finals big guns, New Zealand bowed out to Wales.

Still on rugby in the inaugural women’s world Cup, Australia beat New Zealand 15-10to cinch the title, while world no.1 England crashed 17-10 in the quarter finals to Australia.
