The Fiji Chamber of Commerce is calling on the interim government to waive the income tax for the affected businesses in Nadi and Ba for the next six months to allow them to recover from the losses incurred by the damages by the recent floods.
Acting President Swani Maharaj said the small businesses would need some assistance to get back to normal.
The Chamber is also requesting Commercial banks to allow the severely affected businesses to forego payments on loans for a certain period of time.
Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority CEO Jitoko Tikolevu earlier told Fijivillage that they are internally exploring how they could assist these businesses. Details are expected to be revealed in the next few days.
