The Interim Education Minister has confirmed that Acting Principal, Waiqele Secondary School, Uma Kanti Karan will be back at school by this afternoon.
Filipe Bole said he has received an update from ministry officials in the North this morning.
Meanwhile, when contacted this afternoon Uma Kanti referred all questions to the Education Ministry.
President, Durga Prasad said management is currently having a meeting and will comment later this afternoon. Prasad claims that Uma Kanti Karan has been telling the Fijian Community in the area, that the school management is only allowing Indians to be members of the management.
Although Prasad admitted to Fijivillage News that their school constitution had stated that only Bhartiyas or Indians should be part of the school management as it is an Indian School, he said they made changes to the constitution last year.
When asked on why such a section of the constitution existed until last year, Prasad said the previous management had implemented the system.
He stresses that unless they are given a written assurance by the Education Ministry that the acting Principal will be replaced they will not change their stance. Prasad has assured that the students studies will not be affected by their actions.
