A grand feast is being prepared in Wainimakutu village in the highlands of Namosi to welcome their flyer, Alipate Ratini this afternoon.

Ratini's dad Ratu Sakiusa Batitoa said that the men have slaughtered two cows while villagers from the urban areas are starting to arrive.

Batitoa added that Ratini will be accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome as he is the first from Wainimakutu to don the national jumper.

The proud father of six also said that he was standing in his house watching the final on Sunday and was emotional when he saw his wife in tears.

Batitoa asked her why she was crying, his wife replied that she could not believe their youngest son would one day make his family, village and country proud.
