Waimanu River Continues To Rise
A resident, Vijay Chand said the road is closed to all traffic and some people are also stuck at both ends of the Sawani bridge.
Looking at other areas in Nausori, Korociriciri, Vusuya, Sawani, Navatuvula, Viria and Koroi roads are closed to all traffic as these roads are under two to three feet of flood waters.
Nausori Police said water level in the Rewa river is rising slowly and they expect water levels to increase as high tide hits at 8pm.
Meanwhile, the Naqali bridge is now under 2 meters of flood waters and people residing across the river are being urged not to cross the flooded river.
Works spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete confirmed government officials are on the ground to assist people if the need arises.
Meanwhile, three cases of landslides have been reported between Nausori and Korovou and motorists are urged to take extra precaution while using the road.
The National Dismac Centre is monitoring the current situation in the Central Division and Principal Dismac Officer Patiliai Dobui said people living around the banks of the Navua and Rewa rivers to take precaution.
