The villagers of Waicoka in Tailevu will no longer use diesel generators to provide them with light, as this hour will mark a new beginning as they will witness the lighting up of their village with electricity.
Ministry of Works spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete said that the project is being launched by Works Minister, Colonel Timoci Natuva.
The request for electricity came from the villagers after the road to the village was opened last year.
Waqainabete added Government is confident that the provision of electricity will improve the villager’s living standard.
The Government used over $104,000 while the villagers gave $6,700.
