The Fiji Women’s Action for Change has hailed the government's decision to decriminalize the offence of sodomy following the implementation of the Crimes Decree.
The decree recognizes all consensual sex by adults as legal.
Women’s Action for Change Creative Director, Peni Moore said this means that consensual sex between homosexuals is now legal and they cannot be charged with sodomy.
Moore said any consensual sex between adults should be legal and that homosexuality is a part of life.
She said the comments by some senior members of the Methodist Church of Fiji opposing the decision, is not unexpected.
Moore said it's sad to see that some Christians cannot love their neighbors.
Meanwhile the former President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Tomasi Kanalagi has told Radio Australia that homosexuality is against the bible and should not be allowed even if it's consensual sex.
