Vuruna scores 3 for Fiji Babaas
The Northern side had no answer to a much fitter, powerful and aggressive Vuruna as he broke tackles, fended off players and show blistering speed down the side line.
Joeli Lutumailagi is another player who could get the nod for the next IRB 7s leg in Hong Kong and Japan as he was in brilliant form after 2 months of rest from competitive rugby.
The other player who stood out from the Babas side was former Wardens Captain Apisai Naiyabo after he contested the kick offs, line out and was instrumental in support play.
Assistant Coach Etuate Waqa said the players have performed up to their expectations so far.
The Digicel Fiji Babas are the team to beat after leaving their oppositions scoreless in both their games. They thrashed Burenitu Votua 45-0 and later walloped Tribe Fusion 52-0.
The Babaas final pool game is against Post Fiji Crusaders which includes the oldest 7s player to make a debut on the IRB series Senivalati Vunibola and last years Mic Show winner Romula Lewniqila.
The first upset of day 1 saw an unknown Matanakilai Side from Nayavu in Wainibuka beat a high favored Ratu Filise side 25-17.
Wardens with Lepani Nabuliwaqa, Orisi Sareki and Niko Verekauta escaped a determined Naculava side 12-0.
Looking at the results so far this afternoon, Ratu Filise beat Gaunavou 14-7, West Field Saunaka edged Waiqanake 12-7, Police beat Costal Epic Dolphins 27-5, Hideaway Hurricanes hammered Naicurucuru AOG 40-0 and later drew 7-all with Concrete Solutions 2, Wainivula Eels beat Laucala Blues 19-7, Redrock 2 beat Concrete Solutions 10-0, Post Fiji Crusaders crushed Tribe Fusion 33-7, Shipping Services Stallions beat Vunimono 19-0, Covenant Blue beat Saint peters 17-5, Hydro thrashed Nepani Young Boys 31-10 while Samurai Baracudas edged Uluinakau Babs 14-12.
