Former Fiji 7s veteran player Marika Vunibaka scored a try and set up another as his Lomaiviti side clinched their first win on the opening day of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.

Vunibaka is a top contender for a place in the Fiji 7s team to Hong Kong and Adelaide as he led his side to a 19-7 victory over Sacred Heart Komave at the Suva Grammar School ground.

New Zealand based Vesi Rauluni Junior also made his debut for the Lomaiviti side this morning.

In other games at the Suva Grammar School ground, Nasoni Roko's Waimanu side won by default over ST.Peters and Army Maroon defeated Ratu Filise 24-19.

At the Post Fiji Stadium Prison Gold with the services of Tomasi Mawi, Setefano Cakau and Sailosi Naiteqe looks set to qualify for the elimination round. They drew their opening match against Nasinu 12-12 and won their second match just a while ago after beating Kaite Tosa Bussan 14-0.
