Former Suva Grammar U19 rugby captain John Vugakoto has been earmarked by national U20 coach Rayne Simpson as one of the leading forwards to the World Cup in June.

Vugakoto who is also a member of the Highlanders team in the Colonial Cup competition shows great understanding of the game and stood out from the rest of the pack.

Also impressive was young Lelean U19 halfback Peni Rokodiva, the younger brother of national 7s rep Tomasi Mawi as he combined well with backline players in an outstanding performance.

Simpson is expected to name close to 40 players in his U20 squad for the World Cup and will be trimmed to 30 with a month to go.

Overseas based players will also arrive next week and will undergo a fitness test before it will be determined whether they will join the side in preparation.
