Two athletes of Team Fiji will be in action today on day four of the Olympic Games.

Joe Vueti will compete in the Men's 69kg weightlifting competition at 2pm while Carl Probert takes the Pool at 10pm in the Men's 100 metres freestyle event.

Both have slim chances of making it to the second round, as they have qualified through a wild card entry and are just aiming for personal best.

Meanwhile American swimmer Michael Phelps is still on course to win eight gold medals at the one Olympic Games but he has his team mates to thank for his second gold last night in Beijing.

Phelps and his 4x100 meters freestyle relay team looked to be heading for silver before a storming final 50 meters from Jason Lezak saw the Americans edge out France by a fingernail and in world record time. The Americans clocked 3 minutes 8.24 seconds. Australia won the bronze.

Now looking at the medal tally...China maintains its lead on the Olympic Games medal tally. They now have 9 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

South Korea is in second place with 4 gold and 4 silver while USA lies in third place with 3 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze. Australia has jumped to 5th place with 2 gold and 3 bronze.
