Watisoni Votu will captain the Digicel Fiji 7s team in Dubai this weekend.
Assistant coach Etuate Waqa said that he deserved the appointment as he has been a consistent player and commands a lot of respect.
Meanwhile Osea Kolinisau and Emosi Vucago will be his assistants.
Waqa added that the overseas media are following the team everywhere they go.
The team also had two scrimmaging sessions with Portugal last night with Pio Tuwai and Aminiasi Nava having their first run with the team later tonight.
Fiji’s first game is against Argentina at 7:04pm Friday and then at 10.46pm Fiji takes on United Arab Emirates.
On Saturday at 4.06am, Fiji takes on Samoa.
